Disney Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.: Movie Storybook (May 4, 2010)
1-2
One evening, little Melinda (Daisy Tahan) was sitting in the Los Angeles mansion with her friend Lily LaBouff (Merit Leighton, 8). Melinda's mother, Queen Melody (Julie Andrews, 74), the Queen of Disneyland, sewed a beautiful dress as she read a story about a frog who needed a kiss to turn him into a human prince. "There is no way in this whole wide wide world I would ever kiss a frog!" Melinda exclaimed. But Lily said, "I would kiss a hundred frogs if I could marry a prince and be a princess."
3-4
Back at home at the Happiness Hotel in Disneyland Resort, Melinda happily finished cooking dinner with her father, King Star (John Cleese, 70), the King of Disneyland. They dreamed of opening their own restaurant together someday. "This is the best gumbo I've ever tasted!" he declared, "A gift this special just has to be shared!" Soon the guests gathered around their penthouse to enjoy the good food.
Later, as Melinda nestled into bed, King Star encouraged is daughter to make a wish on the evening star. "And then, if you work hard enough, you can be anything you want," King Star said. "Just never lose sight of what's really important, okay?" As soon as her parents left the penthouse, Melinda wished: "Please help us get our restaurant!"
5-6
Years went by and change was definitely in the air! Melinda grew up to be a beautiful young woman. He father had passed away, but she still dreamed of opening a restaurant. So Melinda waited table at Red Rockett's Pizza Pot day and night, play basketball, and saved every spare penny she could. She knew that her hard work would pay off one day. She also announced he was leaving basketball...to become a baseball player!
7-8
And Melinda wasn't the only one looking for a change. Far off in the cosmos, a vicious man named Principal Robert (James Denton, 47) was looking for ways to spruce up his intergalactic amusement park, Moron Mountain. Maybe Principal Robert should have taken a close look at Melinda's new career.
After all, Melinda wasn't exactly a shining star on the baseball diamond. Her batting average was low, and his fielding was, well...
9-10
But Principal Robert was determined to make changes at Moron Mountain. He ordered the Nerdlucks, his alien slaves, to go out in search of new entertainers. Funny entertainers. Wacky entertainers. Muppet entertainers. So, the Nerdlucks crashed their spaceship into the city of Los Angeles.
As the aliens climbed from the wreckage, they met a green guy (Steve Whitmire, 50). "We seek the one they call Kermit the Frog," a Nerdluck named Pound (Jocelyn Blue, 29) explained. "Hmmm...Kermit the Frog? Say, does he have a long tongue, like this?" the green guy asked. "Yeah," Pound nodded. "And does he hop around, like this? Does he say, "It's the Muppet Show" like this: It's the Muppet Show with our very special guest star, Miss Taylor Swift!" Pound smiled. "Yeah," he said. "Nope, never heard of him." the green guy said. "You know, maybe there is no intelligent life out there!"
11-12
Pound was stupid. But he wasn't that stupid. He eventually figured out that the show-introducing stranger was actually Kermit the Frog. "Okay, Froggy, gather up your Muppet pals. We're taking you for a ride," Pound said, pointing his laser gun at Kermit. Kermit gulped. This was an emergency.
Kermit immediately put out the word. It was time for an emergency Muppets meeting! The Muppets were in the middle of an exciting show when they got the call. Still they had no choice. They stopped right in the middle of the show and raced over to the El Captian Theatre.
13-14
"So what's the big emergency?" Gonzo (Dave Goelz, 63), the stunt performer asked once all the Muppets had arrived. "All of you are now our prisoners. We are taking you to a theme park in outer space!" Pound declared. Sgt. Floyd Pepper (Matt Vogel, 39), the bass player of the Electric Mayhem jumped up and pulled out his guitar. "You ain't going nowheres!" Pound took out his laser gun. With a flick of the trigger, Floyd's guitar disintegrated into dust. With a second flick of the trigger, Pound turned Floyd down to the size of...Rizzo! "Let's get them aboard the ship," Pound ordered.
Kermit jumped up. "Not so fast. You can't just turn us into slaves," he explained. "That would be bad. You must give us a chance to defend ourselves." "Oh yeah? Who says?" Pound snorted. Kermit pulled out a thin book called Rules for Drawing Muppets and pointed to a page. "Read it and weep, boys." Kermit said.
15-16
The aliens had no choice but to let the Muppets defend themselves. After all, it was in the rule book. But how were the Muppets going to defend themselves? Everyone had a different idea. "How about we challenge them to a debate!" Scooter (David Rudman, 47), the gofer said. "Say, we could have a bowling tournament!" scoffed Dr. Teeth (Bill Barretta, 46), the leader of the Electric Mayhem.
"Okay, let's analyze the competition," said Kermit. "We got a small race of aliens..." "Tiny little guys..." added Rowlf (Bill Barretta, 46). "Small arms...short legs..." Gonzo pointed out. "Can't jump high..." noted Scooter. Kermit looked directly at Pound. "We challenge you to..."
17-18
"...a basketball game!" "All right," Pound agreed. "Basketball it is." (Even though he didn't really know what basketball was.) When Pound and the other aliens learned how the game was played they knew they would have to study the moves of the pros and work hard in order to win but the aliens were a lazy bunch. They never studied or worked hard at anything. So they decided to steal the pros' moves instead!
19-20
Kermit was happy to have the love with his father Principal Robert. But there was one thing Kermit desperately longed for–to leave the apartment to go to Disneyland. On July seventeenth, Kermit asked Principal Robert to take him to the happiest place on Earth. Principal Robert refused, insisting that the world outside was full of scary things like cars in the road, quicksand, and snakes. It was far too dangerous a place for a weak and helpless frog like Kermit.
21-22
Everyone in Disneyland was buzzing about Kermit's arrival, but Melinda hardly noticed. She was much too busy even to go dancing with her friends. "I'm going to work a double shift," Melinda said. "Girl, all you ever do is work!" exclaimed one of the guests, Tigger (Jim Cummings, 57).
23-24
Just then, Lily (Megan Hilty, 29) and her father, Big Daddy LaBouff (John Goodman, 58), came into Red Rocket's Pizza Pot. Lily excitedly told Melinda that Kermit was coming to the masquerade ball tomorrow! "I'm going to need about 500 of your man-catching beignets." After Lily paid her, Melinda finally had enough money for a down payment on her restaurant.
That afternoon, an overjoyed Melinda made an offer on the old cottage. It was the location she and her father had chosen for their restaurant long ago. With Queen Melody by her side, Melinda felt as if her dream was about to come true! Two old brokers, Statler (Steve Whitmire, 50) & Waldorf (Dave Goelz, 63), happily accepted the down payment.
25-26
"Oh, can't you just picture it, Mama?" Melinda said excitedly, imagining the cottage as her restaurant. "It'll be the place Daddy and I always dreamed of." "Melinda," Queen Melody replied gently. "Your father may not have gotten the place he always wanted, but he had something better. He had love. And that's all I want for you, sweetheart."
27-28
Back at the Los Angeles apartment, Kermit decided to ask Principal Robert again if he could go to Disneyland, but Principal Robert cut him off. "Enough with Disneyland, Kermit!" he shouted. "You are not leaving this apartment, EVER!" For the first time, Kermit realized that Principal Robert intended to keep him in the apartment forever! He knew he had to come up with a plan to go to Disneyland. Kermit quickly told Principal Robert that he changed his mind. Instead of going to Anaheim, he wanted to play basketball in the day of Disneyland's anniversary. Even though it would take a three-day journey to play basketball, Principal Robert was relieved and agreed to Kermit's request.
29-30
The aliens came up with a really sneaky plan. They went to the basketball game in New York City dressed as humans. They watched as the players raced across the court–shooting, scoring, and blocking shots. When they spotted a player whose style they liked, the aliens released a purple ooze. Then the ooze became a mist and traveled through the air and onto the court. The purple mist went straight into the brain of the chosen player. Then the ooze made its way back to the aliens, carrying the player's talent with it.
Before long, the Nerdlucks has captured the playing skills of Patrick Ewing (Himself, 33), Charles Barkley (Himself, 33), Larry Johnson (Himself, 27), Shawn Bradley (Himself, 24), and Muggsy Bogues (Himself, 31). Were the players sick? Nobody knew what the wrong. Even the doctors at the best hospital in the country couldn't figure it out. There was only one great player left with his skills intact...
31-32
...Melinda. The aliens hadn't stolen Melinda's basketball powers. Melinda wasn't using his basketball powers. Melinda was busy playing baseball...badly.
But no matter how badly she was doing, Melinda was better off on the diamond than on the court. That's because there weren't going to be any professional basketball games for a while. The basketball commissioner had just called a halt to the season until she could find out what was happening to her star players.
33-34
But the Muppets weren't members of that league. Their big game was going to be played as scheduled. "Coach, there's an important strategic question I need to ask you," Gonzo said to Kermit during the team's afternoon practice. Kermit looked up to discover Gonzo modeling some wild team uniforms! "What do you think?" Gonzo asked. "I'm kind of partial to purple and gold myself. It goes better with my coloring."
Before Kermit could tell Gonzo exactly what he thought, Scooter came rushing onto the court. "The little aliens say it's their turn to use the court," the gofer said. The Nerdlucks raced onto the court. Gonzo started to laugh. "Too bad you can't practice getting taller, boys," he said. Gonzo should have kept his mouth shut.
35-36
The aliens lined up in formation. Each little guy took out his own bottle of purple ooze. The Muppets watched with disgust as the aliens raised the bottles to their lips and drank the sloppy, smelly goo.
At first, there was a loud BURP. The a purple gas surrounded the aliens. The aliens began to grow, and grow, and grow, until they towered threateningly above the Muppets. "Those little pipsqueaks just turned into superstars..." Gonzo declared. "Suffering succotash! They're MonStars!" cried Rowlf. "I think we might need a little bit of help" Kermit said.
37-38
While the Muppets and MonStars were busy practicing, Principal Robert traveled through Los Angeles, he ran into the reporter. The Disney reporter was working for everyone at Disneyland. Principal Robert rushed back to the house, terrified that the Disney Patrol had captured Kermit at last.
Principal Robert entered the apartment through the bricks. He searched every inch of every room, but Kermit was nowhere to be found. However, Principal Robert did find the letter.
39-40
Meanwhile, back at Disneyland, a sinister man named Dark Force (Eddie Izzard, 48) had lured Prince Kermit the Frog and his valet, Bobo the Bear (Bill Barretta, 46) into his lair. Dark Force read their tarot cards and promised both the bear and the royalty frog that he could give them exactly what they most desired. Bobo wanted to be more like Prince Kermit instead of being grizzly; Prince Kermit wanted to keep up their carefree, happy lifestyle. As Dark Force held up a magic talisman, Prince Kermit and Bobo's world began to change…
41-42
That evening, Lily was delighted when the prince arrived at the masquerade ball! She didn't know that he was actually Bobo in disguise! Dark Force had used his evil magic to make the switch. The doctor's wicked plan was for Bobo to marry Lily. Then Dark Force and Bobo would steal all of Big Daddy's money.
Lily happily danced with the impostor, while Melinda served beignets to Statler and Waldorf. "You were outbid," Waldorf said to a stunned Melinda. He told her that if she didn't come up with more money, she would lose the cottage! Melinda was heartbroken. "We had an agreement," she argued, trying to reason with the men. Unfortunately, she tripped, and toppled onto her beignet table. Her dress was ruined!
43-44
Lily took Melinda upstairs to her bedroom and gave her a beautiful princess costume to change into. "Aren't you just as pretty as a magnolia in May!" Lily exclaimed before rushing off. Alone, Melinda looked up at the Evening Star from the balcony. She really wanted that cottage. So she closed her eyes and made a wish...
When Melinda opened her eyes again, she saw a frog. "A kiss would be nice," the frog said. He was a talking frog! Melinda shrieked and ran back into Lily's room fast as she could. "I am Prince Kermit the Frog of Mississippi," the frog said. He explained that he needed a kiss to become human again. "Surely I could offer you some type of reward. A wish I could grant?"
45-46
Melinda wanted to help. And getting her restaurant would be a nice reward, so–SMOOCH! Then...POOF! Prince Kermit was still a frog. But Melinda had become a human frog, too! "Aaiieeeeee!" she screamed. "What did you do to me?"
47-48
In the guest quarters of the LaBouff estate, Dark Force was furious that Kermit had escaped! You see, the doctor needed the prince to make his magic talisman work–and to keep Bobo looking like Kermit! "You just win Lily's scented hand, and we'll split the big fat fortune," Dark Force angrily told the disguised bear
49-50
Meanwhile, the two new frogs had been chased from the ball into the jungle. That was when Prince Kermit learned that Melinda was not a real princess. "No wonder the kiss didn't work!" he exclaimed. But Prince Kermit couldn't be too angry. He wasn't really rich and couldn't give Melinda the money for her restaurant. His parents had cut off his allowance until he learned to be more responsible. But there was no time to argue–the two frogs had to figure out how to escape the jungle!
45-46
The next morning, Prince Kermit slept while Melinda built a raft. Later, as Melinda struggled to paddle through the jungle, Prince Kermit lazily strummed a makeshift ukulele. It was clear that she was going to have to do all the work.
47-48
Melinda was enjoying a relaxing game of golf with her pals Orchid (Grey DeLisle, 36) and Daisy (Kari Wahlgren, 32). The baseball publicist named Tulip (Miley Cyrus, 17) had arranged the game. Tulip worked with Melinda on the baseball team. Only Tulip wasn't a player–she was the guy who drove Melinda to and from the stadium. She also drove her nuts.
Melinda watched as her pal Daisy hit a beautiful drive onto the green. "You clowns can't beat that," Daisy said assuredly. That was all Melinda needed to hear. She stepped up to the tee, swung, and unleashed a beautiful drive of her own.
49-50
The ball stopped about 40 feet from the hole. But just as the three women reached the ball, something incredible happened. The ball started rolling again–right in the direction of the hole. It was as though the ball had a mind of its own. "That's impossible!" Daisy said. Impossible or not, the ball plopped right into the hole. "All right!" Melinda said, flashing her famous grin.
"Wait," Tulip called over to Melinda. "Let me get a picture of this. Reach in like you're going to get the ball. Now smile." Melinda reached in for the ball. She couldn't seem to grab it. She reached a little deeper. And a little deeper. Suddenly, Melinda was pulled all the way into the hole!
51-52
"Look out for that first step. It's a real lulu!" Melinda rubbed her eyes in amazement. Was it possible, could this be... "Kermit the Frog?" Melinda asked. Kermit laughed. "You were expecting maybe the frog prince?" he replied. Melinda gulped. "But...but...you're just a TV star. You're not real."
It was a challenge Kermit couldn't resist. "Not real? If I wasn't real, could I do this?"
53-54
Melinda had to believe Kermit was real. It was too dangerous for him not to. "All right! All right! Enough already, you're real," Melinda admitted. "But what...why...where?"
Kermit leaped onto Melinda's lap. "Why Melinda," he said, "I thought you'd never ask." Kermit told Melinda about the aliens who wanted to capture the Muppets and take them to Moron Mountain. Then he explained about the upcoming basketball game. Melinda's eyes grew wide as Kermit described the way the tiny aliens had morphed into giant MonStars. "Am I getting through to you?" Kermit asked, finishing his speech. "They're going to make us do stand-up comedy, the same jokes every night for all eternity! I'm talking about being trotted out perform for a bunch of low-brow, bug-eyed, fat-headed, humor-challenged aliens! What I'm trying to say is...WE NEED YOUR HELP!"
55-56
Melinda sighed. "But I'm a baseball player now," he explained to Kermit. "Yeah. And I'm a Shakespearean actor," Kermit replied sarcastically. He led Melinda into the Muppets' gym. "Look, I want to help," Melinda told the Muppets, "but I haven't played basketball in a long time. My timing's all off." Kermit smiled. "We'll fix your timing," he said proudly. "Look at our facilities." Melinda glanced around. He was amazed by what she saw. "We got hoops!" Gonzo said.
"We got weights!" Dr. Teeth added as Animal (Eric Jacobson, 39) lifted some weights. "We got balls!" Rowlf shouted from beneath the pile.
57-58
CRASH! Before Melinda could say anything, five huge, menacing MonStars came smashing through the stadium walls. "Who are these guys?" Melinda asked Kermit. "Well, uh...remember the tiny aliens I've told you about?" Kermit replied. Pound (Darnell Suttles, 36) wasn't waiting for Kermit to make any introductions. "We're the Mean Team," he sputtered at Melinda. "We're the MonStars. Let's see what you got, chump." Pound fired a ball right at Melinda's head.
Melinda grabbed the ball. "I don't play basketball anymore," she said, firing it back at Pound. "Maybe you're fish," Bang (Joey Camen) said, challenging Melinda. "I say! I resemble that remark!" Lew Zealand (Matt Vogel, 39), the boomerang fish thrower declared.
59-60
Maybe Melinda didn't play basketball anymore. But that didn't mean he couldn't be a basketball! Pound reached out and grabbed Melinda. With one tight squeeze, Pound molded Melinda into an NBA-size ball. Pound dribbled the Melinda-ball a few times, then slam-dunked her into a basket! "You're all washed up, girly!" Bang bragged.
Melinda could take having a ball fired at her head. She could take being slam-dunked through a hoop. In fact, Melinda could take just about anything…But when the big brutes knocked PepĂ© the King Prawn (Bill Barretta, 46) around, Melinda had had enough. A fierce look of determination came over Melinda's face. "Let's play some basketball," she announced to the Muppets.
61-62
When Melinda left to make plans, Principal Robert burst into the gym. He was eager to take Kermit home. But Kermit refused. "You don't understand. I met someone," he said. Principal Robert told him that Melinda was only using her to get the restaurant. Before returning outside, Principal Robert handed Kermit the ticket and dared him to give it to her. Kermit thought he could trust Melinda, but he was also afraid of losing her. He hid the ticket before she returned.
Melinda dragged Kermit around the gym. "Do you know what this is?" she asked, revealing a flyer King Star had given. "You mean the restaurant thing they do for the princess" asked Kermit. "Well, this evening, we'll do the practice equipment for the Ultimate Game," said Melinda. "We'll compete in this basketball challenge, win it. Then, and only then, will get our restaurant with the ticket together." "Fine. I'll play some basketball," Kermit agreed, desperate to get the ticket.
63-64
Kermit was happy just to chat and play music with his best friend, Fozzie Bear (Eric Jacobson, 39). But Melinda was impatient to find a way to break the spell! Fozzie told Kermit and Melinda and Kermit that an old voodoo woman named Mama Odie might be able to help them.
Meanwhile, at the LaBouff estate, Bobo was proposing to Lily. But without the real Kermit, the talisman's magic was wearing off. Luckily, Lily was so thrilled that she didn't notice Bobo changing back into his true self! “We're going to have ourselves a Disneyland parade wedding!” she squealed. She was going to be a princess!
65-66
This afternoon, Melinda called her team together for an extra practice session. "Has anyone here ever played basketball before?" Then, a new player walked into the gym. Her name was Miss Piggy (Eric Jacobson, 39). Kermit looked at Piggy. His heart skipped–right out of his chest. "Hello...my name is Kermit," he introduced himself. "You want to practice one on one, doll?" Piggy's eyes narrowed angrily. "On the court, Kermit," she ordered. Kermit grabbed a ball, raced onto the court, and took a shot. Piggy jumped up and blocked it. Kermit landed in a heap on the ground. "Girl's got some skills!" Melinda said. Piggy looked at Kermit. "Don't ever call me "doll"." "Check!" Kermit said.
67-68
Melinda gave her first order. "Somebody is going to have to go to my house and pick up my basketball gear. And whatever you do, don't forget my shorts!" It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it. They also discovered that being frogs wasn't easy! They hungrily tried to catch a firefly with their sticky tongues–and got tied up in knots instead! "Let me shine a little light in the situation," the firefly said as he untangled Melinda and Kermit. Then he kindly offered to lead them to Mama Odie.
69-70
The helpful firefly's name was Ray (Jim Cummings, 57). As he traveled along with his new friends, he spoke of his true love, Evangeline. "She is the prettiest firefly that ever did glow." "Just do not settle down too quickly," Kermit advised Ray. Frustrated with Kermit's carefree attitude, Melinda hacked through the thick hotel. She just wanted to find Mama Odie and become human again. Then she could be rid of the all-play, no-work prince for good!
Suddenly–whoosh!–Kermit was caught in a net! Three hunters wanted frog legs for dinner. Ray raced to find his friend. He flew right up the nose of one of the hunters. Meanwhile, two other hunters trapped Melinda!
71-72
Working together, the two frogs quickly hopped around, causing the hunters to hit each other instead of the frogs! "Those are the smartest frogs I've seen," one hunter said as all three men lay beaten and battered at the bottom of their boat. "And we talk, too!" Melinda replied. Laughing, Kermit and Melinda watched the shocked hunters flee in fear.
73-74
After the excitement was over, Melinda started to prepare dinner. Kermit tried to help, but he didn't know how. "The day my parents cut me off, I suddenly realized I didn't know how to do anything." Melinda began to see the helpless prince in a new light. Gently, she taught him how to chop mushrooms. Soon the gumbo was ready. Ray and Fozzie loved what Kermit and Melinda had cooked together!
75-76
So Kermit and Gonzo raced over over to Melinda's house. They found her sneakers lying on the trophy room floor. Kermit grinned. Maybe this job wasn't going to be so tough after all. The only thing left to do was find the shorts. Unfortunately, something was standing in their way .... Melinda's bulldog, Charles.
Finally, Kermit and Gonzo returned to the gym, sneakers and shorts in tow. They watched as Melinda leaped high in the air and slam-dunked the ball in the basket. No doubt about it–Melinda still had it. Clap, clap, clap. Melinda turned quickly to see who was applauding. It was Tulip! "What are you doing here?" Melinda asked her. "I gotta take you back. You've got baseball practice." Melinda shook her head. "I can't right now. I'm helping my friends in their basketball game."
77-78
After dinner, Ray gazed up at the sky. "There she is–the sweetest firefly in all creation!" he declared. Evangeline was the Evening Star! As Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem began to play, Kermit asked Melinda to dance.
79-80
Suddenly, evil shadows sent by Dark Force swept into the gym. They snatched Kermit and begin to drag him away. Melinda, Fozzie, and Ray tried to stop them, but the shadows were too strong!
FOOOOOM! Blinding flashes of light vaporized the wicked shadows one by one. Kermit was saved–but by whom? "Not bad for a hundred-and-ninety-seven-year-old blind lady," someone said. It was Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis, 53)! The magical woman and her pet snake, Juju, led the travelers into her old shrimp-boat home.
81-82
"We need to be human," Melinda begged. "You want to be human, but you're blond to what you need!" Mama Odie explained. The frogs didn't understand. The old woman sighed and began to stir her gumbo. Melinda peeked into the tub and saw Lily becoming the Princess of the Disneyland Parade for today. It was suddenly all clear: If Kermit could kiss "Princess" Lily before the stroke, then he and Melinda would become human again!
83-84
When game time came, the Muppet Squad was ready! "We're gonna steamroller them!" Kermit said. "Ready to take it to the rack, Jack!" Gonzo admitted. "Those MonStars will wish they'd never been born!" Rizzo added.
85-86
Unfortunately, so were the MonStars! Everyone in the arena was tense–even the referee (Matt Vogel, 39)! It was time for the tip-off. "Ready?" the referee asked.
The referee tossed the ball in the air. Pound and Melinda jumped. Melinda tipped the ball to Kermit the Frog, who...just stood there! "I got it. I got it. I got it." Kermit cried as he held the ball tightly to his chest.
87-88
The MonStars charged right at Kermit! "Coming through, little boys," Nawt (T.K. Carter, 39) snarled. He grabbed the ball from Kermit. Then Blanko (Steve Kehela) hammered Kermit into the court like a skinny, gray-and-white nail. Almost the entire Muppet Squad froze in fear. Only Miss Piggy and Melinda seemed able to move. It was up to them to guard the whole MonStar team. It wasn't an easy task. Nawt raced across the court. The mega MonStar leaped into the air and...SWISH!
The MonStars were really in a groove! They shot! They scored! They slammed the Muppets to the ground! By the end of the first half the score was: MONSTARS 64 and MUPPETS 18! The Muppet Squad made their way to the Mark Twain Riverboat. Their faces almost dragged across the floor. "Moron Mountain, here we come!" Rowlf declared.
89-90
Kermit, Melinda, Fozzie, and Ray caught a ride on Mark Twain's riverboat. Along the ride, Kermit confessed to Ray that Kermit had fallen in love with Melinda!
Kermit surprised Melinda with a romantic breakfast. But just as he was about to ask her to marry him, Melinda spotted something on the riverbank. "Daddy and I knew that one day that the dream will come true," she said dreamily.
91-92
Heartbroken, Kermit walked away. He realized that he could never afford to buy Melinda her restaurant–unless he married Lily. But before the frog could ponder this any further, Principal Robert found him. "I'm the lost prince," Kermit declared. Principal Robert tried to speak, but Kermit wouldn't listen. "You were wrong about the world, Father. And you were wrong about me." Principal Robert pulled his arm out of Kermit's grasp and fell backward into the mirror, shattering it. "I will never let you use my hair again," said Kermit, turning away. Dark Force's shadow minions captured him!
A little later, at the LaBouff estate, the shadows swept in with Kermit. Dark Force quickly used the prince to restore the talisman's magic. Soon Bobo would look just like Prince Kermit again and marry Lily. Just when the poor frog finally understood the wicked plot, Dark Force locked him in a chest.
93-94
Meanwhile, Ray revealed to Melinda how Kermit really felt: "He's in love with you!" Melinda was overjoyed. She raced to the parade to see if Kermit had kissed Lily yet. Instead she saw Lily and Kermit in disguise getting married Not realizing that it was really Bobo in disguise, Melinda was crushed. She ran away alone, thinking she would remain hopeless–and that her dreams would never come true.
95-96
Luckily, Ray found the real Kermit and released him from the chest. Together, the two friends tired to stop Lily from marrying Bobo. Just before the couple say, "I do," Kermit grabbed the talisman from the impostor's neck and tossed it to Ray. "Stay out of sight!" Dark Force hissed at Bobo, who now looked like his old self again.
In a different part of the parade, Fozzie was having the time of their life, telling jokes. Just then, Ray flew by, struggling with the heavy talisman. Dark Force and the sinister shadows swiftly chased the tired firefly. Music would have to wait–Fozzie's friend needed help! The comedian bear jumped off the float and followed the action. Soon Ray found Melinda and gave her the talisman. She ran off with the magical charm. Furious, Dark Force swatted Ray!
97-98
As the dark shadows closed in, Dark Force blew a puff of magic dust to create an illusion. Melinda was human again–in her dream restaurant! "All you have to do to make this a reality is hand over that little talisman of mine," Dark Force said. Suddenly, Melinda understood everything. Her father had been surrounded by love. He'd always had what he needed–and he had never forgotten what was important. She smashed the talisman.
99-100
All at once, Melinda was back in reality. And she was a frog and basketball player again. With the talisman shattered and all the hope of the fortune disappear, Dark Force lost his control over the shadows. Melinda watched in terror as the dark creatures surrounded the evil man. Soon all that was left of Dark Force was his black top hat.
101-102
While Bobo is arrested by the police, Melinda hopped off to find Kermit. She arrived just in time to hear Kermit agree to to marry Lily. "But remember," Kermit said to the Disneyland princess, "You must give Melinda all the money she requires for her restaurant. Because Melinda? She is my Evangeline."
"Wait!" Melinda called to Kermit. "My dream wouldn't be complete without you in it." Tears filled Lily's eyes. "All my life I read about true love in fairy tales," she said. "Melinda, you found it!" She turned to Kermit. "I'll kiss you, Your Highness. No marriage required!" But it was too late. The clock chimed. Kermit and Melinda were still a frog, but they were together–and they had found true love.
103-104
Suddenly, Fozzie ran toward them, carrying Ray. The little firefly's light was flickering low. Dark Force had hurt Ray badly. With tears in their eyes, Kermit and Melinda held hands. "We're staying together," they told him. "I like that very much," Ray said, smiling. "Evangeline likes that, too." And then the little bug's light went out for the first time.
105-106
Back at the gym, the MonStars, on the other hand, raced back into their locker room, cheering all the way! Principal Robert was there to meet them. "Not bad for the first half," he told the MonStars, "but we gotta keep this up." "Hey, no problem," Pound said. "We stole the talent from the best players in basketball," Nawt explained. The MonStars were sure the game was in the bag. But the MonStars hadn't counted on the Muppet Squad's secret weapon... Tulip! "Shut up! I smell something." Principal Robert said. "It smells like...a spy!" "Uh...we have been playing really hard." Blanko said.
Tulip had snuck into the MonStars' locker room, hoping to find the secret to their success! And after hearing Pound and Nawt, even a numbskull like Tulip could figure out what had happened. Tulip was now the only person in the world who knew what had happened to the star players' talent! He rushed back to the Muppets' locker room to reveal the MonStars' secret! "The MonStars," Tulip wheezed. "They stole the talent from the pros!"
107-108
Now Melinda knew just what to do. She had to play as though he were up against other pros. And there wasn't a professional alive who could beat Melinda! Melinda felt really pumped. She gave his team a little pep talk. "Listen up. I didn't get dragged down here to get whipped by a bunch of ugly MonStars! We've got to fight back. We've got to get right in their faces." It was a very passionate speech. Too bad nobody heard it.
109-110
Kermit the Frog had one of her brilliant ideas. She grabbed a water bottle and filled it to the top. "Great speech and all," he complimented Melinda, "but, eh, didn't you forget something? Your secret stuff?" Melinda had no idea what Kermit was talking about. "You know, your secret stuff," Kermit said again. Kermit winked at Melinda. Kermit took a big swig from the bottle. Almost instantly he turned into a muscle man.
"You wouldn't hold out on us, would you?" Rowlf asked Melinda, his voice pleading. He grabbed the bottle and took a swig. "I…no…I didn't think you guys really needed it," Melinda said. "I mean, you're so tough…you're competitive." "We're also fish," Lew Zealand admitted as he took a sip.
111-112
It was time for the second half of the game. The referee blew his whistle and tossed the ball. The MonStars were ready to sweep the floor with the Muppet Squad. But Melinda and the Muppet Squad were ready to stop them. Suddenly, from the far corner of the gym came a loud, bellowing, frightening howl.
"TIME OUT!!!!!!!!" The mighty MonStars quaked in their sneakers. The voice belonged to the person they feared most–their boss, the evil Principal Robert! Principal Robert strutted onto the court and slammed Pound. "Why didn't you get this guy?" Principal Robert asked, pointing to Melinda. "Because she's a baseball player," Nawt explained. "She looks like a basketball player to me." Principal Robert said. "She's the one I want for Moron Mountain."
113-114
Melinda laughed. "Hey," she called to Principal Robert. "You want a piece of me? Come and get it. How about we raise the stakes a little? If we win, you give the pros their talents back. If you win, you get me." Principal Robert looked at his mean, lean MonStars. Then he looked at the wimpy Muppet Squad. It was an offer he couldn't refuse! "Crush them!" he shrieked. The game resumed. And this time the MonStars would stop at nothing to win.
One by one, the MonStars destroyed the Muppet Squad. They slammed Gonzo… pounded Scooter… and trampled Animal!
115-116
All the while, Melinda was scoring. But she knew she needed help. The Muppet Squad were down to four players on the court. They needed five to play. Unfortunately, all of their substitute players were injured. If they didn't find a fifth player, the Muppet Squad would have to forfeit the game. And Melinda would become Moron Mountain's newest attraction!
Then, Melinda spied her fifth player sitting alone on the bench. The Muppet Squad's secret weapon–Tulip! Now Melinda had all the players she needed. They could start playing again. But first, Gonzo had a question. "You got any more of that secret stuff?" she asked. "I think it's starting to wear off." Melinda smiled. "It didn't wear off," she said. It was just water. You guys had the special stuff inside of you all along."
117-118
The Muppet Squad lined up on the court. Melinda looked at her teammates. They were a mess. A sorry mess. (All except Tulip, but had her own problems.) Still, at least there were five of them. "Just guard the big guy," Melinda told Tulip. "Guard him? I'll smother him," bragged Tulip. Unfortunately, the only one who got smothered was Tulip. Luckily, just before the MonStars flattened her into a pancake, Tulip managed to shoot the ball at the hoop.
Melinda watched as the ball soared through the air and went through the basket. Amazing! But not nearly as amazing as what happened next. Lew Zealand raced onto the court with a spatula. Then he scraped up the Tulip-cake and flopped her onto a stretcher. Before long, Tulip looked human again. (Well, as human as someone like Tulip could look.) "How'd he do that?" Melinda asked. "Anybody could do that, Melinda! Even you! This is Disneyland!" Kermit replied.
119-120
Melinda looked at the scoreboard. The MonStars were winning by one point. The Muppet Squad had a chance–if they could find a player to replace the injured Tulip. Just then, Orchid raced onto the court! "All right! "We've only got ten seconds," Melinda told her teammates. "They have the ball. We go for the steal." Melinda grabbed the ball and leaped into the air. The MonStars weren't going to let Her Royal Highness fly! They rose up high. A sea of MonStar arms and bodies blocked Melinda's way. Now if this had been a professional game, Melinda would have been finished. But this was a Muppets-Disney game. And when in Disneyland, you do as the Muppets and Disney characters do. Melinda stretched her body like a giant cartoon rubber band. She wound herself right around the MonStars, and jammed the ball into the basket!
Buzzzz! The crowd cheered as the game ended. The Muppet Squad had won! Kermit and the Muppets would not have to go to Moron Mountain after all. But the Muppet Squad weren't the only ones who didn't want to go to Moron Mountain. The MonStars didn't want to go, either. They were sick of Principal Robert's bullying. The MonStars circled around Principal Robert. Together, they strapped him to a rocket and launched it out of the stadium...out of Disneyland...out of Earth...out of the galaxy! Then the MonStars gave Melinda back her friends' basketball powers.
121-122
Melinda and Tulip raced over to the local gym. He found her buddies long-faced on the court. "So, I hear you guys want your games back...what little games you had to begin with," Melinda teased. She held out a glowing, purple basketball. "Come on. Touch it. Put your hands on it." The guys were a little nervous, but they did as Melinda said. And suddenly all was right with the world. Principal Robert was floating through space. The Muppets were staying at Disneyland. The star players were stars again and back where they belonged–on the basketball court.
123-124
Later, in the Happiness Hotel, it was time to bid Ray good-bye forever. All of army's friends raised their eyes skyward to gaze at the dazzling Evening Star. Next to it, there was another bright star–a star no one had ever seen before. Ray and Evangeline were together at last. The little firefly had been right all along. True love always finds a way...
125-126
Not long after, Kermit and Melinda were married by Mama Odie. As Kermit kissed Melinda, the two frogs turned back into humans! "Like I told you, kissing a princess breaks the spell!" Mama Odie said with a laugh. "And once you became my wife," Kermit began, "that made you–" "A princess!" Melinda finished. "You just kissed yourself a princess!"
127-128
Kermit and Melinda went to Downtown Disney, where they had a royal wedding. Kermit's parents were proud to see their son settle down, and Queen Melody was thrilled that her daughter had finally found true happiness.

Soon there was a new restaurant in Disneyland–Melinda's Palace. It was the best place to go for good food, lively music, and fun with friends and family. Melinda had nothing more to wish for, because she had everything she'd ever wanted–and everything she needed.
